It’s bold. It’s chic. It’s brand new. And it's already becoming one of the best spas on the island. That’s because Navasana Spa at Outrigger Koh Samui Resort and Spa offers a lot more than your average resort/amenity spa, and really is well worth the visit.
And it’s not hard to get to either. As you’re heading north from Big Buddha, take the first concrete road on your left (which leads to Tongsai Bay). Just a couple of hundred metres further on you’ll cross a small bridge and almost immediately after that you’ll see another road and a large sign on your left for the resort. Follow this road and within 50 metres you’re there.
You’ll notice from the entrance and main reception that there’s a decidedly natural feel to the whole place; lots of wood, many plants, and several water features. And as you take the short walk through the gardens to the spa, this becomes even more apparent.
Navasana Spa is an imposing two-storey structure. And the first things you’ll see are several huge wooden pillars supporting the building, a natural rock wall encasing a built-in surrounding lotus pond, and two large murals by separate sofa seating either side of the spa reception.
 But it’s when you’re led into the central courtyard within the spa that you’ll really be impressed. For here, there’s a massive frangipani tree (thus the name of the spa) stretching high up to the vaulted glass roof above. It’s like an inner sanctuary here; contemporary yet definitely Oriental in style. Thai and foot massage take place in three ground floor suites, whilst all the other treatments are provided in one of the four double or two single suites on the first floor. And all of these also have private Jacuzzis and steam rooms.
So, here you are in an immaculate air-conditioned suite in a lovely setting, but what about the treatments available and the standards of the therapists? Well, there are no worries on these scores either. All the therapists are fully certified and have at least four years’ experience, and with the impressive range of scrubs, wraps, facials, massages and combined packages on offer, all using natural Thai herbal products, you’re certain to find anything and everything you’re looking for.
Couples will be pleased to hear that there are special packages designed specifically for them where they can share a special spa experience. For example, the Sweetheart Together package includes the following: a floral foot bath; a herbal steam; a shared aromatic milk bath; your choice of body scrub; an aromatic Swedish massage; and a herbal compress facial, finishing with a chill-out with tropical fruits and cold drinks.
But you don’t have to be young sweethearts to enjoy a visit to By The Tree Spa! Everyone is very welcome.
