As soon as you visit Magnolia Spa all thoughts about the outside world instantly disappear the moment you enter its smart reception and begin a wonderful spa experience.
And although Magnolia Spa is decidedly up-market, its prices definitely aren’t. But I’ll come back to that later, because it really is an important factor. The spa is in North Chaweng, next to Kandaburi Resort, on the road leading towards Samui Airport and, having the largest sign on the island outside, it’s very easy to find.

Enter the double-fronted spa and you’ll immediately be reassured of the quality of the place by the solid wooden furniture and stylish cream and turquoise colour scheme. And it’s here that you’ll meet the owner/manager Dali. She’s a lovely lady who, after having had treatments at numerous spas around the world, decided that the only way of having everything ‘just perfect’ was to open her very own spa and make it just that – which she’s done!

Magnolia Spa is spread out over 3 floors: there’s a 6-station foot massage area (complete with state-of-the-art reclining-to-horizontal chairs) and a double treatment suite on the ground floor; and 2 double suites plus 2 double Thai massage suites on each of the 2 upper floors, making a grand total of 24 positions. And that makes Magnolia Spa one of Samui’s largest stand-alone spas.

As for the treatments, well there are all the therapies and packages that you’d expect to find in a spa of this calibre, and quite a few more. Magnolia Spa is currently the only spa in Thailand that uses and stocks the complete range of Dead Sea products (they sell them separately, too). And you’ll probably already be aware of the incredible skin-care benefits of using these unique minerals.

Right, now I’m coming back to the incredibly reasonable cost of treatments here. For example, the 90 minutes Hot Stone Massage is just 1,800 Baht, and the 3½-hour Magnolia Total Care package, including a 1-hour Thai herbal body-scrub, a 1½-hour Sarawak deep-tissue massage and a 1-hour royal honey aroma facial is an unbelievably inexpensive 3,600 Baht! I did say that prices here are an important factor, and finding better value for money at a spa on Samui wouldn’t be easy.  

But, although Magnolia Spa offers its services at low prices, no corners have been cut and nothing has been stinted upon. The therapists are highly-trained; the all-natural products are the very best (including those from the Dead Sea); the facilities are 5-star; and the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff are second to none. And these are just some of the reasons why it’s so recommendable.
